Who we’re looking for
We are looking for candidates with a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship and a strong desire to work directly with entrepreneurs of high-growth startups to help them succeed. Ideal candidates have a technical or business consulting background and experience managing many projects with companies across various industries and at different stages of their journey. Previous experience in technical writing for grants and tax credit applications in an asset.

Our Funding Catalyst team works closely with founders of high-growth ventures to help them articulate their vision and business plan, identify funding opportunities that can support it, and secure the capital they need to execute. We are on a mission to be the trusted source for non-dilutive funding strategy and execution services for ventures across North America. Since its inception, Funding Catalyst has helped companies secure more than $50m in non-dilutive capital, helping extend their runway and accelerate without diluting their cap-table.
In this role you will:
- Work directly with founders and their teams to create tangible impact in support of the commercialization and success of their venture
- Collaborate with founding teams to develop a robust funding strategy that accounts for the leverage and stack-ability of various capital sources including grants, gov backed loans, tax credits and more
- Help founders and their teams articulate their vision, distill it into compelling business narratives, and apply for and secure capital for various funding opportunities
- Work autonomously within a team that provides a comprehensive support network for founders through venture capital, product strategy and engineering, operations, and growth, and access to other sources of non-dilutive funding
- Materially improve the probability that ventures will succeed
You would be described as:
- Having a graduate degree (MSc, PhD or MBA) - Candidates with an undergraduate degree and 3+ years of work experience in a startup or consulting environment are also encouraged to apply
- Having strong technical writing skills with a knack for breaking down complex ideas in a concise way and with a persuasive tone
- A strong project manager with the ability to effectively manage projects concurrently, client expectations against competing priorities, and manage change with finesse
- Outcome-driven with the ability to keep the big picture in mind and the organizational skills to stay grounded in the work required to achieve it
- A life-long learner ready to jump into new concepts and technical areas outside of their comfort zone
- Having the ability to take big ideas and explain them to outside stakeholders with minimal to no pretence
- Computer-savvy and well-versed in document editing software and other productivity tools (Notion, G-suite, Microsoft Office, HubSpot)
- Someone with experience writing, reviewing, and submitting grants and tax incentive program applications like SR&ED
You will be responsible for:
- Working directly with a portfolio of ventures to identify funding opportunities and optimize the strategic approach to securing them
- Researching and identifying optimal funding sources to support ventures through funding agency relationships, opportunity assessments, and project scoping
- Critically assessing a venture’s technology, priorities, and capital constraints in the context of non-dilutive funding
- Translating business problems, strategies and descriptions into cohesive narratives through concise and persuasive written content for funding applications
- Proofreading, fact-checking, and evaluating work against funding program criteria
- Supporting ventures with funding outcomes and non-dilutive funding reporting
