A $50M Milestone

Our Funding Catalyst team has helped startups and scaleups across North America secure more than $50M over the last three years! That means so many more ventures have been able to make it to their next stage of growth. Hear from founders who've benefitted from this service and much more in this blog.

We are celebrating a remarkable milestone. Since the inception of our Funding Catalyst service in March 2021, we have now helped founders across North America secure more than $50 million in non-dilutive capital. And while that’s an impressive number, we focus on the impact that funding will have on the founders that are working so hard to get to their next milestone.

Funding Catalyst Co-founder Andrew Browne says, “every company needs access to capital that is not going to dilute themselves off the cap table.” He understood this after securing significant non-dilutive funding for his previous startup. “There’s a lot available to innovators but it’s really hard to figure out how it all fits together. We wanted to create a team that could help founders get that capital without the time and effort it takes to do it themselves.”

And that team needed to consist of strategists, writers and analysts that would be able to help each founder determine the right grant to go after at the right time for their company.

Dr. Katie Greene, is Thin Air’s Director of Operations and the Co-founder of the Funding Catalyst service. She spent her academic career doing extensive technical writing and securing numerous grants as she pursued her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She knew founders needed support from those with deep expertise in the non-dilutive landscape and says it has been extraordinary seeing how that expertise from the FC team has translated into such meaningful impact in the innovation space. “Supporting these founders on their journeys and building a team to help them execute on these grants has been incredibly rewarding,” Katie admits.

“The Funding Catalyst service was able to help us get a couple of initiatives off the ground… one of them was to close some healthcare gaps in rural Ontario…we ended up being able to launch a $3.1 million dollar initiative with a co-investment of $1.5M from DIGITAL.” — Chenny Xia, Co-founder + CEO of Gotcare
“Aside from the end result of getting non-dilutive funding that not only saves our dilution and cap table, the biggest aspect of it for me was the time savings… It was a really great service for us and we’re going to keep using it.” —Ammar Memon, Co-founder + COO of Quickly
“Having this expertise was vital to achieving success in terms of getting this grant.”— Doug Lawson, CFO of Alchemy

The Funding Catalyst team that is made up of PhDs, Masters level scientists and business analysts continues to scale. Their most recent hire, Andrew Black, says he loves working with a wide range of founders as they try and solve global challenges. “One of the best parts of being a Funding Catalyst, is getting to work so closely with the founders and being so intimately involved in the problems they’re solving.”

And the team is looking to hire more Funding Catalysts and Business Development representatives all in an effort to continue supporting founders, so they can stay focused on what they should be doing, scaling their companies, hitting their next milestones and #BuildingWhatsNext.
