Robert Price was buying and selling property in 2017, frustrated at the antiquated process and thought ‘there has to be a better way.’
“I found the property I wanted to buy online. I was determining the pricing, I was telling my agent what to say from a negotiation standpoint,” explains Robert. ”I felt like my agent was in the way. In the end, I wrote a large cheque and thought to myself ‘there has to be a better way.’ And the agent, who is a good friend of mine, agreed.”
Two years later, Robert and his Co-Founders Jeff Jackson, Lindsay Skabar and Alan Kelly launched Bōde.
Bōde is an online platform for buying and selling property designed to offer a better experience for significantly less money than traditional methods. Sellers go to the platform, click start listing, answer a few questions, and about 10 minutes later, their house is ready to list following professional photos and measurements of their home.
“We’ll send a professional to your house, they will come back and upload those photos directly into your listing for you, in addition to our QR signage, connecting buyers directly to your listing. You click submit and we’re ready to go live. That whole process typically takes under 48 hours,“ says Robert. ”And once it’s live, we market your property not only on realtor.ca but thousands of other listing sites. We set you up so buyers can come directly to you through our platform and message, book showings and make offers to maximize your property value.”
Not only does Bōde offer all the data clients need to make informed decisions, they also have recently released a real estate industry focused generative AI, providing 24/7 support to users of the Bōde platform. “Our AI, we call ‘Bōdie’, recently got 100% on a sample realtor exam,” says Robert proudly. “We are excited about the additional automations, advanced insights and useful data we can bring to our customers building on the most sophisticated platform in residential real estate.”
At the end of the process, most consumer sellers save about $15,000 in commission fees. Bōde also works closely with over 50 home builders and institutional asset holders across the major Canadian markets providing SaaS subscription services enabling an unparalleled buyer experience and cost framework that ensures best rates for those shopping for homes.
Bōde has now sold almost 1,500 properties and over $800 million dollars in property value. They launched in Calgary, and are now active across Alberta, British Columbia and the GTA in Ontario. They plan to continue to expand across Canada, with eyes to expand internationally into targeted US states.
