When I first joined Calgary's innovation community two years ago, I didn't know much about it.  I marvelled at the billion dollar tech companies coming out of this city, the ambitious and intelligent entrepreneurs quietly making an impact on the world from this oil and gas town. And I wondered, why aren't we telling more of these stories? Why don't people everywhere know about this sector?

Well, that's beginning to change. The world is starting to pay attention to the rapidly growing start-up ecosystem in Calgary and Alberta. Take for example, this recent article in the Financial Times. The story outlines how the success of Calgary start-ups and the investments in innovation have the potential to rewrite the narrative of this city.
